RE: searching for simple sweet potatoes?

On one of the cooking shows just before Thanksgiving I saw this: Bake sweet potatoes in the oven Along with the sweet potatoes bake/roast 3 bananas in the skins Take potatoes and bananas out of the oven when potatoes are done. Peel potatoes and bananas into a large bowl, stir up with butter and a little brown sugar if desired and a table spoon of lemon zest (orange zest would work too). Put in casserole dish and top with brown sugar/butter/walnut crumbles. I know you didn't want topping, however, the potato/banana combo is FANTASTIC as is without the topping. And the amounts can be adjusted according to need, less potato, less bananas. Cheryl

RE: child proofing

We have an 11 month old that is trying to walk. I have entertained the idea of a child gate across the area in front of the door but still haven't taken one to the TT. During the summer we plexiglassed the screen door so we could see out when the 5 and 6 yo were outside playing. Recently we have taken to opening the slide panel in the screen door and flipping the large "handicap" rail over the screen door. Baby girl might be able to push the door open about a half inch but there is now way she will be able to open in far enough to fall out. Cheryl

RE: Songs you still wanna CRANK UP, even after all these years!

Motown, most anything. Queen When our house needs a good cleaning and the kids have shirked their chores I will surprise them and put in "Diana Ross and the Supremes Greatest Hits" CD on replay and shuffle. When they hear that CD they scramble to do the chores as fast as possible and correctly. Why? Because the CD doesn't get turned off until house cleaning is completed. Really I LOVE oldies. Cheryl

RE: US 65 from Little Rock, AR to Natchez, MS

We live in Vicksburg, MS. I-20 runs east/west through Vicksburg, Tallulah is 22 miles west of Vicksburg and Hwy 65 is a well traveled country highway. When we visit friends in Atkins, Arkansas we jump over to La. and travel Hwy 65 from Tallulah rather than taking Hwy 61 north from Vicksburg then turning at Leland/Greenville, MS to cross the river to Lake Village. Hwy 65 is country and flat to Vidalia, La then cross to Natchez, Ms. You could cross to Vicksburg at I-20 and take the 2nd exit south on Hwy 60 and would be in Natchez 60 miles later. All of 61 is divided 4 lane except in Port Gibson for about 5 miles. Cheryl

RE: Lounge chair making holes in floor of 2007 Eagle TT

If the dents and tears are occuring only when rolling down the road and not when in use have you considered just flipping the chairs over and having the upholstery be in contact with the floor? You would have to make sure they didn't slide back and forth too far! Cheryl

RE: Patio Awning Replacement

We called the dealer and they ordered the tube, there in 2 days. We had to pick it up because a freight truck would have had to deliver it and that was out of the question. Hubby picked it up, strapped it to the top of the Suburban and brought it to our "permanent" camp site. Our awning is 18 feet long and the cardboard tube is plenty strong to survive and bounce while strapped to the top of the Suburban. Cheryl

RE: Can I replace the "drum" on my awning?

On the General RVing board on page 15, last posting was 09/24 the topic is Patio Awning Replacement. I think you will find the thread informative. Cheryl

RE: A NEW DECK?

I'm assuming you are asking about a "portable" "removable" deck, right? What about something along the line of 1 x 2/3/4s webbed together and when in storage roll up. You can see something like I am talking about when you look at new beds (to sleep in) lots of them don't use the old slats but have this webbed contraption that fills in the space between the headboard and footboard between the rails...I assume so you don't have to use a box spring.... You could make this easily. Cheryl

RE: Duggars and their 18 kids

Never could have bio kids. Adopted 4, 2 with special needs. Have fostered an additional 18 so far...all in 18 years. We have a 26 yo daughter, and a 20, an 18 and a 16 yo son. We hope to be able to adopt our 10 month old foster daughter. Now IF we could win the Power Ball my dream would be to find 10 gorgeous acres of land and have an architect design a home that could be added on to as the years passed by that would not looked "added onto" and adopt special needs kids. House would be in the middle, fenced in. The foster care system is so in need of good parents. The foster care system is ALSO in need of GOOD social workers that don't think they are GOD! I would never have had that many kids! But there is no reason not to parent a lot of kids. Cheryl

RE: We've Got A Chipmunk!

We are pros at catching chipmunks. We had a cat YEARS ago that would bring the little boogers in and let them go. The dogs would wag their tails at it while it sat in their food bowls eating dog food. Try to get the chipmunk cornered. We used a clear plastic spaghetti canister and a yard stick. The yard stick would be used to scoot the chipmunk out of hiding into the clear canister and we would quickly stand it up and put the top on and go across the street and let it out. You could also wear heavy leather gloves and grab it. HOWEVER !!!!! DO NOT grab the tail as it will come off OR the hair and skin will slip off and it will totally FREAK you out!!! Leather gloves are enough to not get bitten. If you can get it corned in the bathroom it can hide in a toilet paper tube. Got one that way too!!! Cheryl

RE: Anyone take their Grandkids with you

Push for full custody. NOT guardianship. The parent can approach the court as often as they want to and get the child back. If possible request TPR and do a full out adoption. If you are drawing your social security and/or are disabled the children will draw off hers and your social security. Get all the state funding medical coverage you can. But be aware that when in another state you may have trouble in an emergency...they may not accept it. If a new parent is disabled and/or retired the child is eligible for a subsidy from social security. If you don't need it put it away for future emergencies, ie medical on trips, pay for college, pay for the first car...etc....Don't put all of it in the child's bank account. If it builds up too much and is trackable the money stops...and the medical goes away. Cheryl

RE: Patio Awning Replacement

The tools we used were: metal snips several screw drivers drill and bit to drill out the pop rivets vice grips hammer pop rivet gun the tension "rods" are two pieces, one on each end, not one long rod the hammer was for serious tapping on the screw driver to release the grip the cover had on the awning so the aluminum whatever it is called..LOL...would slide off the awning the metal snips were to cut the aluminum whatever... Our awning gave way in a heavy rain storm. The weight of the water bent the aluminum cover the awning rolls around and basically broke the aluminum in half except for a short piece that we had to cut. Pay attention to the right side of the awning where the little flip thing is...flip up to raise, flip down to lower....it is easy to get this positioned wrong and it will bump into your gutter when up. And if you don't redo it you will be pulling on the arm a little and using the awning wand to push the lever up to pull the awning down.... Clear as mud?? Cheryl

RE: Patio Awning Replacement

We had to replace our roller cover the fat aluminum contraption at the front of the awning recently. Measure the awining, several times, contact the dealer to order it, pick it up and open the cardboard tube. READ EVERY WORD. Several times. The instructions for the part we replaced included the installation/replacement of the entire awning. We had 5 people total and it took us about an hour to replace the part. Really simple after you are through. Cheryl

RE: Sewer modification's

Another thought is to run the sewer flex line THROUGH the PVC pipe to shade it from the sun. We have ours in a stretch of Plastic/vinyl (whatever) gutter to support it. Not spending the money for the accordian fancy support. Cheryl

RE: Quad bunk trailer

The Springdale by Keystone makes a variety of bunk situation in a resonable length. Look at this website: http://www.khulsey.com/rv_info/rv_mfg_travel-trailers.html This is the website we used to narrow down what we wanted prior to going across state to purchase. Cheryl
